Advances in Energy Medicine: How Do Energy Therapies Work?
with James L. Oschman, PhD
Saturday, March 16, 2019
3-hour workshop: Times TBA
One of the most powerful tools we have in our efforts to spread the word about the safety, effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of energy therapies is our ability to explain how and why these approaches work so well for so many different health conditions. Experience has shown that successful clinical trials and case studies are far more convincing if we can explain how the therapies produce the results they produce. Study of the mechanisms involved in alternative therapies, from A to Z (Acupuncture to Zero Balancing) has been Dr. Oschman’s focus for some 35 years. After writing three popular books on the scientific basis of energy medicine and about 120 articles in some of the leading peer-reviewed scientific journals as well as in leading journals on alternative medicine, and presenting workshops in 26 countries around the world, he has been recognized as one of the leaders in the efforts to bring these therapies into the mainstream. His focus is describing the science behind complementary and integrative therapies in ways that are both understandable and scientifically correct.
In this workshop, he will provide experiences and information that explain and enhance important therapeutic tools such as sensitivity and intuition, as well as the nature and significance of the energies that are emitted and sensed by human hands. As our understandings of what is taking place during energy therapies increases, our potential to produce beneficial results increases. This is the path to the medicine of the future!
Professor James L. Oschman, PhD is the author of Energy Medicine: The Scientific Basis and Energy Medicine in Therapeutics and Human Performance, which give the most skeptical academic scientists a theoretical basis for exploring the physiology and biophysics of energy medicines. He holds degrees in Biophysics and Biology from the University of Pittsburgh. He has worked in major research labs around the world. These include Cambridge University in England, Case-Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, the University of Copenhagen, Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, where he was on the faculty, and the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, where he was a staff scientist. His many scientific papers have been published in the world’s leading journals. And, to learn about the theories and practices underlying complementary methods, Jim has both taught and attended classes at various schools around the world, and experienced a wide range of bodywork techniques. This has brought Jim some distinctions, including acting as President of the New England School of Acupuncture, and a Distinguished Service Award from the Rolf Institute.
Fundamentals of a Holistic and Spiritual Human Biology
with Jaap van der Wal, MD
July 11-14, 2019
Understanding the stages of human development is a foundation for therapeutic recognition of embryological forces in all later stages of life. Craniosacral Therapists have been urged to comprehend embryological forces at work in sessions because the forces that formed the body are continuously at work throughout life, carrying the blueprint of Health into manifestation at every moment. This seminar is a rare opportunity to hear a world authority on modern scientific understanding of embryology who has developed a unique synthesis of this science with spiritual principles. The view on the human embryo as presented here, will introduce the embryo not as a phase in human life in the very past but as an actual fundamental principle of the body of everyone of us.
The aim of the seminar is to let attendees share in the mighty processes that form the basis of every human individual, participating not only with the intellect but also with the heart. This innovative way of considering embryonic development will open completely new perspectives as to polarities and threefoldness, microcosm and macrocosm, heredity and incarnation, evolution and the development of mankind.
This phenomenological embryology is indispensable for Craniosacral-therapists, Osteopaths, Polarity Therapists, Yoga therapists and representatives of other truly psychosomatically and spiritually oriented therapies as Body-psycho therapists or Trauma therapists. Also accessible for physicians, midwives and laymen. Specific foreknowledge of embryology is not required.
Jaap van der Wal, Ph.D. is a medical doctor and retired associate professor in Anatomy and Embryology at the University of Maastricht, Holland. After his medical education in 1973 he became specialized in the functional anatomy of the locomotor apparatus with (later on) emphasis on the architecture of connective tissue and fascia and its role in proprioception. Gradually he developed as teacher in Philosophy of Science and in Medical Anthropology. After his retirement, he fully devotes his energy to Embryo in Motion, a worldwide project on teaching Embryosophy. He now teaches his ‘Embryosophy’ in Europe and USA in institutes for Craniosacral-therapy, Osteopathy, Polarity Therapy but also Prenatal Psychology and Trauma therapy.
